Fraser Island Clean Up 2022

A number of trips will be run to various locations on the island please contact Charlene if you have any specific areas or places you would like to visit.

Event Timetable
Friday 20th May - volunteers make their way to Fraser Island. Set up camp at USC Dilli Village and enjoy remainder of day at leisure or join in on one of the club trips. 

Saturday 21st May - volunteers continue to make their way to Fraser Island Set up camp at USC Dilli Village and enjoy remainder of day at leisure or join in one of the club trips.

Sunday 22nd May - Clean Up - 7.15am volunteer briefing at Dilli Village prior to departing to allocated clean zone.
                               - Thank you Afternoon / Evening - 2.30pm depart Dilli Village and travel to Cathedrals on Fraser for the volunteer thank you afternoon and dinner. Dinner cost is $10 per meal, dinners must be pre purchased
                             - Raffle prize draws to be conducted, tickets $5ea and available for pre purchase or at the event Winners do not have to be attendance at the event to claim prizes.

Monday 23rd May - Event concludes and volunteers pack up camp and depart Fraser Island or club members may choose to stay on after the event.

Accommodation - USC Dilli Village 
QLD 4x4 club volunteers will be staying at USC Dilli Village, accommodation bookings must be made ASAP and paid in full to secure your booking. Bookings must be made directly with dilli village via their website bookings page https://www.usc.edu.au/study/life-at-usc/study-locations/research-and-teaching-centres/kgari-research-and-learning-centre/accommodation-booking-and-facilities or by calling Dilli Village care takers David & Leesa on Ph: 4127 9130.

Barge
Manta Ray Barge provides travel discount to all volunteers. Discount is only available on the event weekend and your official event vehicle sticker must be displayed on the left top side of your vehicles windscreen. Return barge rates:
$95.00 for 1 x return vehicle, includes driver and passengers
$150.00 for 1 x return vehicle & caravan / camper trailer / boat, includes driver and passengers

Event Safety & Dingo Awareness
All QLD 4x4 club volunteers when participating in the clean up must wear heigh visibility clothing or vest, closed in footwear, gloves, long sleeved shirt and pants (recommended), hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. It is suggested to use a rubbish tool to pick up waste to reduce back injury caused by bending. Always carry and have adequate supply of water and food taking regular breaks and keep well hydrated. Volunteers must never handle syringes, report all sharps to trip leader. Volunteers should always work together in groups and ensure children are kept at arms reach at all times. Volunteers must never feed or make food available to dingoes and other wildlife (fines apply) volunteers prior to arrival of Fraser Island are encouraged to read the QPWS Dingoes safety information guide https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/157232/be-dingo-safe-flyer.pdf 

Merchandise
Event merchandise is available for purchase https://www.ficu.org.au/product-category/merchandise/ will be collected by trip leader at the Friday morning registration.

Raffle Tickets
Raffle tickets are available for purchase, tickets $5ea and available for pre purchase on www.ficu.org.au or at the event, winners do not have to be attendance at the event to claim prizes.
