Wet Tropics Great Walk partially open

The Yamanie camping area, and Juwun and Jambal walks are open. Affected parks: Juwun and Jambal walks, Wet Tropics Great Walk; Wallaman Falls Section, Wet Tropics Great Walk; Wet Tropics Great Walk.

Walk closed at Mount Spec
23 February 2012
All facilities and walking tracks at Mount Spec are open, with the exception of the Birthday Creek Falls walk. This walk was significantly damaged by Cyclone Yasi and is anticipated to open by June 2012. Affected parks: Mount Spec, Paluma Range National Park; Paluma Range National Park.

Sidetrack to Sunken Reef Bay closed

The sidetrack to Sunken Reef Bay (map ref. 15) is currently closed due to damage from Cyclone Yasi. Affected parks: Thorsborne Trail, Hinchinbrook Island National Park.

Reduced facilities on Hinchinbrook Island National Park

All camping areas on Hinchinbrook Island are open, however the toilets and barbecues at South Macushla camping area are not operational. Please use the facilities at the nearby North Macushla camping area. Affected parks: Hinchinbrook Island National Park.

Poverty Creek and Gallagher Point camping areas and track access closed due to wet conditions

Partial closure of Goold Island National Park

Cyclone Yasi has damaged facilities and vegetation on Goold Island National Park. The three camping areas on Goold are open, but the two walking tracks (Western Beach and Island coast walks) will remain closed until further notice. Affected parks: Goold Island National Park.
